DAY 1 - TEACHING

It started when Noah's sash got caught on a branch. Usually, it was easy enough to just give it a tug and keep moving, but unfortunately, this branch had chosen violence; instead of dislodging itself from the branch, the sash tore, a long strip of it ending up detached and dangling down to her side.

"Ah!"

In a matter of seconds, an awed Princess watched, wide-eyed, as her Jester instantly pulled a miniature sewing kit out of seemingly nowhere, darting closer and comparing thread colours with a thoughtful gaze until he finally decided on the closest match. He pulled out a needle, threading it expertly - okay, maybe not expertly, but he almost had it first time - and he quickly kneeled down in front of her, leaning forward to reconnect the two sides of the fabric.

The repair job was finished in a matter of minutes. Rehan grinned, biting off the thread with his teeth, as he quickly packed the thread back into the kit.

"Sorry, the stitches are kinda... well, super visible, but it's better than leaving it hanging," he hummed, sewing kit back in his pocket. "I gotta get thread that matches your sash better, I've never had to repair it before."

"You did that so quickly..." breathed Noah, as they continued walking. Rehan danced ahead of her, as he always seemed to do. "You're so good at things like that. I wish I knew how to sew."

Rehan stopped in the middle of the path and turned to face her.

"Do you wanna?" he asked with a wide smile. "Learn how to sew? I could teach you."

"Oh," she murmured softly. "I... I couldn't ask that of you. You already do so much for me! And we have so many other things to do, too..."

"Hey, it's no trouble! I'm offering!"

"Well, if you're sure...!"

Thus began the fated sewing lesson - and, to tell the truth, Rehan was beginning to regret his decision. He considered himself a good teacher in most situations, but there was only so much he could do when faced with someone as... fine-motor-skills challenged as the Princess.

"If it's too hard, I can do it for you!" he said, doing his best to hide his exasperation as Noah failed to thread the needle yet again. "It might help if you lick it - no, no! The thread! Lick the thread! Not the needle!"

Noah sighed, putting the needle down on the table.

"It's no good!" she pouted, looking at the thread in her hand. "If I can't even do this part, how am I ever going to learn how to sew?"

"Well~" Rehan began, dragging the word out in a sing-song tone. "To be fair... do you really need to know how to sew?"

He looked at Noah with an expectant grin. Noah looked back in confusion.

"Because I'm here!" he clarified, gesturing to himself. "I can just do it for you! Like, I'll always be around, right?"

The princess' eyes lit up, and the faintest of smiles managed to break through the frustration on her face.

"Yes... you will. I suppose you're right!"

"Heck yeah I'm right!"
